How Asmuth works in a live interview

You download the desktop app, sign in with Google, and start a session from the overlay. The website does not run the interview. Overlay, stealth, meeting audio, and screen capture are desktop-native.

1. Download Asmuth for Windows or macOS, then sign in. New accounts include a free trial of 30 AI credits and 15 minutes of listening.
2. Open the pill bar over the call or IDE. Drag it, show/hide it (Ctrl+Shift+H), and expand the answer panel when you need it.
3. Press Start Interview when the round begins. End Interview stops the timer and opens session analytics. Pause stops the clock.

Common shortcuts: Ctrl+Shift+M (mic), Ctrl+Shift+A (meeting audio), Ctrl+Shift+S (screen analysis). Hover pill-bar icons in the app for the full list. You can attach a resume and custom session instructions before the call, then type or speak follow-ups in the pill bar.

How an AI interview assistant helps in coding rounds

For LeetCode-style and IDE shares, Asmuth uses region capture. You select the problem area; the app streams a markdown answer with highlighted code. Meeting audio is optional if the interviewer is talking through constraints while you type.

Platforms that work without a plugin: HackerRank, LeetCode, CoderPad, VS Code, plus any other window the overlay can sit on. Asmuth can propose a complete, commented solution and explain the approach. You still write the code in the interviewer’s editor. Using an assistant in a proctored or policy-forbidden round is your call — the product does not change the company’s rules.

Behavioral interviews and system design

Behavioral rounds move on spoken questions, not a shared editor. Enable meeting audio when you want live transcription of the interviewer; that uses listening minutes. Mic dictation (Ctrl+Shift+M) lets you ask Asmuth by voice without scoring evaluation. Interview evaluation is a separate pill toggle that records spoken answers for scores on knowledge, communication, completeness, confidence, and independence.

System-design prompts often mix a whiteboard or doc with follow-up speech. Screen analysis can read a prompt on screen; meeting audio can catch “now scale writes.” Mock interviews in the desktop app use resume-aware setup if you want a rehearsal before the real loop.

Is an AI interview overlay visible on screen share?

Asmuth’s stealth / content-protection mode is designed to stay out of typical screen shares and recordings. It is not a guarantee against every proctoring stack or OS capture path. Dry-run with your meeting app and, if you have one, your company’s recorder, before a real interview.

How AI credits and listening minutes work

Asmuth meters two things. AI credits track model responses: short answers use fewer; heavy screenshots and long completions use more (roughly 500 billable tokens ≈ 1 credit). Listening minutes track meeting-audio transcription and are included in each pack. Leaving meeting audio on burns quota — turn it on when you need live call transcription.

Session time is Start Interview → End Interview. Pause stops the timer.
